Budsi’s isn't just another Thai restaurant; it’s a testament to the rich tapestry of Thai cuisine, merging tradition with a modern touch. As customer Alex Gonzales passionately remarked, it's possibly the best Thai food in New Orleans, if not the world. His favorite dish, Khao Soi, is a must-try for anyone desiring a genuine taste of Thailand. The soup is a comforting embrace of flavors, transporting you to the streets of Chiang Mai with each spoonful.
Another satisfied patron, Jo Henderson, shared her serendipitous encounter at Budsi’s during a busy Mardi Gras. She and her sister found themselves at the bar, indulging in their unique interpretation of cocktails like the Spicy Budsi-Rita. This Thai twist on the classic margarita combines tequila with a spicy Thai chili simple syrup and a perfectly seasoned salt rim, setting the stage for a delightful meal. They sampled recommendations, including Pad See Ew and Spicy Cha Stir Fry, which embody the restaurant's commitment to freshness and authenticity. Every dish is made to order, allowing guests to customize the spice levels to their liking—a feature stressed by Leon Sanders, who enjoyed the restaurant's genuine Thai spicy offerings.
For the discerning diner, Laura Nguyen highlights Budsi’s as a top contender for authentic Thai food in New Orleans. With her extensive background in enjoying home-cooked Thai meals, she appreciates the balance of spices that make every dish a culinary work of art. The ordering process is seamless and engaging, allowing you to select your meal before finding a cozy table amid the bustling atmosphere.
Moreover, Carlos Nanez raved about the pork shoulder paired with papaya salad, noting it as an elevated dining experience that remains true to the flavors one expects from authentic Thai cuisine. The rich, fragrant curries and delicious spring rolls he mentions are further testaments to the restaurant's dedication to quality.
In conclusion, Budsi’s Authentic Thai is not just a place to eat; it's a culinary journey, rich in flavors and culture. Whether you're looking for a casual dinner or a more refined date night experience, Budsi's offers a welcoming atmosphere enhanced by exquisite dishes. “ Best Thai food in New Orleans. Possibly the world? One of my favorite restaurants/places on the planet. I’m just a better person after I’ve eaten a bowl of Khao Soi from Budsi’s. ”
“ Sis and I were in NOLA again this year for Mardi Gras. It was a different kind of vibe this year with National Guards throughout the French Quarter and weather warnings that upended some parades. But that story is for a different review. On Saturday, after a canceled reservation at another favorite location we wandered over to this spot which Sis had spotted earlier before I arrived. Boy did this place hit the spot. It was clear that this was a happening location before we had fully come to the door. People were seated outside, at all the tables inside and there was a waiting line for food to go and tables as they were vacated. We took a seat at the bar which was the right choice. The bartenders were helpful with the menu and mixed up some specialty drinks that were killer. We opted for the Spicy Budsi-Rita, which is their Thai take on the margarita. In my estimation it is superior, beginning with a spicy/savory/slightly sweet salt rim and a knock your socks off generous pour of Tequila, Thai chili simple syrup and Thai basil. YUM! The drinks whet my appetite for the food, which did not disappoint. We opted for some of our favorites - Pad See Ew, Larb, Spicy Cha Stir Fry (vegetables) and steamed rice. What is notable is that everything is made to order with the best and freshest ingredients spiced up to your tolerance level. I haven’t been to Thailand (YET!), but if this food is redolent of the flavors of the country, I’m on my way! I’ve eaten lots of Thai cuisine, but I can truly say that none have knocked my socks off the way that the meal at Budsi’s did. We tried to get back on another night, but our meal card was full. Which is the reason that I will return next Mardi Gras. I have them down for at least two visits in 2026. I hope to see you there, you will not be disappointed. Drinks on me. ”
“ This is the best Thai food I have had in New Orleans. It's the most authentic I have eaten. I have literally tried every Thai restaurant in the city. For someone who is very picky about their food because having Thai friends cooking home cook meals all through my college years and in my late 20's. Each dish has the right amount of spices. I love the concept of this restaurant. You pick what you want and order and pay at the register. You get your number, and they bring it out to you to your designated table. Your server does come by and give you all your fine China plates and silverware. Refills your drink and gives you togo plate if need be. The restaurant is always a full house inside , but we do have outside eating. Great restaurant for date night or a family get-together. On the nicer side than casual , but can go dine casual. If you are looking for a more flavorful, authentic Thai, go here. If you want your simple curry and basic pad thai. This place would be to a finer version of all the basic that will get your pallets wanting more. ”
“ Fantastic selection and amazing Thai culinary delights! The best red curry I've had since Thailand and they do have real Thai spicy so be careful if you ask for it. We got the spring rolls and the red curry and both were incredibly delicious. Come for the food and atmosphere but stay for the true authentic Thai experience. ”
“ The pork shoulder was amazing with the papaya salad. The soup was really good, a must have. Definitely elevated experience while keeping true to the flavors you’re use to. ”
“ I found this place because I was hungry but indecisive so I just put "Food" into Google maps. I just moved to the area and this place was really close. The meal was incredible, waterfall pork great flavors, textures, spice level, the whole nine yards. Very happy to find this place basically across the street. I will be back and back often. ”
“ Some friends who visit NOLA often recommended Budsi's to us, and we loved it! The food was outstanding - very flavorful and nicely presented. It's counter ordering and table delivery, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The cocktails rate a mention too. We got a Sazerac and an Old Fashioned and both were really good! Best of all: food and cocktail prices are very reasonable. For the quality of the food, it would be tough to beat the price. Excellent, authentic Thai food at a bargain. If I lived in NOLA I'd be a Budsi's regular. ”
“ I ordered the duck curry with pineapple and lychees. Y’all that was the best curry I’ve ever been served. This was my third time here, but my first time getting curry. I’m going to try ALL their curries now. My girl got a tom yum soup with shrimp, chicken, and noodles. Baller. Fun cocktails too. ”
